BAGRS Live Steamers Group

BAGRS LIVE STEAMERS GROUP

DEDICATED TO BUILDING , ACQUIRING & OPERATING LIVE STEAM LOCOMOTIVES

BAGRS has an active LIVE STEAM GROUP. It embraces members who build, acquire and operate live steam locomotives and members who want to explore live steam.

Members of the group gather regularly at one members railroad to run one of their live steam locos
or just to enjoy the locomotives operating. Some of the most impressive live steam locos are scratch
built by very talented modelers.

Locos are powered by butane gas, alcohol and coal. Whichever fuel is used, live steam locos general-
ly require more TLC than electrically powered locomotives..

TAKING LIVE STEAM ON THE ROAD

The group has a portable display layout which is stored in a dedicated trailer ready to hit the road,
which it does about 6 times a year. The layout is set up at train shows and other events so the public
gets to see the wonders of live steam operations.

Any BAGRS member is welcome to join our Live Steam Group. You do not need to own a live steamer! Just go to your BAGRS MEMBER PROFILE and check ‘Yes’ to the question, ‘Interested in Live Steam Group?’ in a section headed ‘Interests’. After that, you can also send an email to livesteamers@bagrs.org to flag your interest
